LISTEN Western Scene – “Strange But True”

“‘Strange But True’ is a euphoric track with a heady edge. There are traces of a few styles running throughout the song — I particularly could hear something that could only be described as “Shins-esque” — but all the pieces meld into one chugging shot of aural endorphins.”

The 405 has premiered the new track from Western Scene entitled “Strange But True”. It is out today via Grand Jury Records.  When talking about the track frontman Tom Pritchard says, “I was searching for a soundscape that would give dark and lush padding for a new song Idea I had. I got lost in patches for a long time in my living room and what came out was the song “Strange but True”. I wanted to convey the idea of escaping into the unknown and what kind of things will happen when you are truly on your own.  Eventually things change and you run towards it. It may have been my homage to “A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall”. I sent it to my friend Hugo Nicolson who took it further down the path and his mix was right in line with what I had envisioned.”

Western Scene is an indie rock band formed by front man Tom Pritchard in Los  Angeles. The bands first EP ‘Listening’ was released in 2013 and produced by Hugo Nicolson (Radiohead / Primal Scream). The music quickly found its way on national radio and tv/film while they played in and around Southern California. The band has spent the last four years releasing self-produced music written and recorded in bedrooms and studios on both coasts leading up to their newest single “Strange but True.”
