Whales In Cubicles– Disappear (Club The Mammoth / Believe Digital)

The first single, from their eagerly anticipated debut album (set for release in the autumn), ‘Disappear’ is a song about the fragility and fleeting nature of identity.

From the first few bars, Disappear’ sounds comfortable as a slice of alternative up-front guitar and driving drums, described as “Smashing Pumpkins-esque” which is a fair-ish description. Whales In Cubicles are assured, tight with strong vocals delivered with some conviction, which really does hit home.

As a marker, the single works to good effect, resulting in moves the bar being raised slightly higher for their Autumn long player, it beckons well. 8.4/10
