Winston Surfshirt reveal latest single ‘Same Same’
Confirm debut album ‘Sponge Cake’ to be released end of September
‘Same Same’ is the infectious new track from hotly-tipped 6-piece Winston Surfshirt.
Hailing from the northern beaches of Sydney Australia ‘Same Same’ is the third offering from the band led by singer/rapper/producer Winston. Armed with a throbbing bassline, catchy chorus and vibrant jazz-infused interludes, the track is complemented perfectly by Winston’s signature vocals. The band are set to continue their golden run of form having already garnered support from the likes of Elton John (on his Beats 1 show), Zane Lowe (who branded them as one of his breaking acts of 2017) + BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens. Their debut track ‘Be About You’ has garnered over 4 million global streams and the band sold out all 7 shows on their debut Australian tour.
Having developed a cult following with their smooth style and raucous live shows, the band originally emerged as the solo project of Winston Surfshirt, before organically adopting other local artists and snowballing into what is now a six-piece musical collective.
Speaking about ‘Same Same’ Winston said:
”This was one of the last songs written for Sponge Cake, It started in a different pitch and was much slower, I think through almost playing it live a couple days after it was written for about a year helped to form it into the party that it is now. We called in some extra brass and percussion which really helped create it in to the song you’re hearing today.”
With their debut record ‘Sponge Cake’ due for release on September 29th 2017, ‘Same Same’ is once again an extremely promising glimpse of what is to come.
