With Guitars have already told you about the amazing headliners, Stevie Wonder and New Order, we’ve told you about exclusives from The xx and Sigur Rós and we’ve told you all about the off-piste madness from the Swamp Shack and Wishing Tree to the Ambient Forest and Roller Disco, our Wildlife theme and everything in between. But we still haven’t finished yet because now it’s time to tell you about even more beautiful music for you to luxuriate in at Robin Hill Country Park this September 6th-9th. But the line-up ahs swelled over the last few weeks DJ’s alone number something like 50 names, but some of the best news we will leave to the organisers, “We’re delighted to announce that Bestival will be teaming up with Exit Festival to take part in the Association of Independent Festivals (AIF) Twin Festivals initiative. Deriving from the popular ‘twin towns’ concept the scheme aims to create a cultural exchange between the UKs leading independent festivals and their international counterparts and both festivals have plenty of ideas up their sleeves to benefit both artists and festivalgoers from Serbia and the Isle of Wight this summer.”
Now in its third year the AIF scheme has gone from strength to strength with participating festivals successfully building local awareness of their twins through cross press and marketing promotions. As well as sharing links on their websites, twinned festivals also include twinning information on flyers, marketing materials and in their PR campaigns to local media and once their own event has sold out help to market their international twin through their media channels. Talent discussions have helped to co-ordinate bookings of international artists and further reinforce the fundamental values that unite the festivals. Taking place from Thursday 12th – Sunday 15th July, in the magical Petrovaradin Fortress overlooking the river Danube, EXIT continues to deliver the most adventurous and value for money festival experience, with a diverse and cutting edge line up, cheap food and drink onsite and the best campsite entertainment whilst bathing in the hot Balkan sunshine. Tickets are on sale now from only £95 for a 4 day festival pass. For more info and tickets http://eng.exitfest.org/ Sadly we have just heard that Azealia Banks is cancelling all of her summer shows in the UK an d that includes Bestival but we have just confirmed an AMAZING new act to announce which we will tell you all about early next week and we still have our Friday night headliner under wraps, news of which will be coming soon, so keep on checking in at www.bestival.net, and our Facebook page and Twitter for all the latest behaviour. Looking at the official website – With Guitars believe they have just about pulled it off, which is no mean feat these days. The Cure Foo Fighters and Kasabian are to headline this year’s Reading and Leeds Festivals. The Cure’s Robert Smith will perform on the Reading stage for the first time since 1979. The event will feature the nation’s best amateur skaters and BMX riders in a competition to be judged by top professionals in both sports. Described by the New York Times as putting “rock and rebellion squarely in the category of African-American music,” the Afropunk Festival has become a Brooklyn intuition and the focal point for the burgeoning Afropunk movement.
Over the past seven years, the Afropunk Festival has established its position as a platform for musical artists on-the-verge of hitting it big, such as Grammy-nominated Santigold, The Noisettes and Janelle Monae. Afropunk mainstays like Saul Williams, The Dirtbombs, Mos Def, and Bad Brains have also graced Afropunk’s stages. Regrettably, last year’s festival was cancelled due to Hurricane Irene. The storm almost put an end to the Afropunk Festival, but through the organizations’ dedication and hard work, and the support of this year’s sponsors which include Nike, vitaminwater, Kind and media sponsors The Fader and WNYC, the festival is back delivering the best music, food, culture and sports—and still free to the public! www.afropunkfest.com

With seven stages running an incredible gamut of musical styles at Solfest you’re always spoilt for choice, in the best possible way.
Leading the way is the truly legendary Adam Ant & The Good, The Mad And The Lovely Posse. Originally one of the cult icons of UK punk rock, Adam And The Ants built a fiercely loyal following in the late 70s before bursting into the mainstream with the tribal pop of ‘Kings Of The Wild Frontier’ in the early 80s. KT Tunstall will also grace the Solfest 2012 main stage, bringing with her a distinctive and unique approach to contemporary singer-songwriting delivered in a stripped backed solo version with effects pedals multi-tracking her vocal. Also appearing on the mainstage are Celtic rock behemoths The Waterboys, led by the inimitable Mike Scott. Since forming in 1983 The Waterboys have continued to steadfastly plough their own musical furrow, from their ‘Big Music’ of the 80s through their folky period on the hugely successful Fisherman’s Blues and Room To Roam albums to today’s more rock’n’roll driven sound Post-punk legends Big Country will also appear. Emerging from Scotland in the early 80s with one of the most distinctive rock sounds to have ever surfaced. Approaching their 30th anniversary, the band performed at last year’s Isle of Wight festival, T In The Park and V Festivals.
