WORSE FOR WEAR
EP: ‘EMPTY EYES’
Let’s go back a little bit to a simpler time: a time of moody riffs, hormonally-charged melodies and ferocious vocals. Pop-punk was a golden blip on the mid 2000’s radar and now Brisbane 3-piece Worse for Wear are taking everything you loved from that energetic genre and injecting it into their own debut EP.
‘Empty Eyes’ is chock full of emotionally rich and musically expansive tunes. From growing up to breaking friendships to tumultuous breakups, ‘Empty Eyes’ covers every emotion that defines the young adult experience – none more explosive than lead single ‘Headspin’.
Three minutes of pure pop punk nostalgia, ‘Headspin’ is laced with just a sprinkling of modern indierock. Coming heavy out of the gates with a galloping drumline and insistent guitars, the frantic nature of the tune mirrors the delicate subjects that the lyrics delve into.
Frontman Curtis Heinz comments “Headspin is about the struggle I have with my own anxieties and having to look after someone else. As a partner in any relationship, there will come a time where you will have to be the strong one.”
Worse For Wear are bundling up all this energetic emotion and trundling it onto the stage for their EP launch on November 14th. All that remains to be seen is if The Zoo can contain the mad musical vibes that come part and parcel with Worse For Wear.
