Xiu Xiu’s new single arrives today! Watch “Pumpkin Attack on Mommy and Daddy” + freshly announced US tour dates
Xiu Xiu has shared the 2nd of 3 audiovisual companions for their new album Girl with Basket of Fruit. The video for “Pumpkin Attack on Mommy and Daddy” races along the thematic current of and utilizes consistent imagery and symbols from the first video (“Scissssssors”), including reappearances of Xiu Xiu members & performance artists’ Ron Athey and Elliot Reed. Writing of “Pumpkin Attack on Mommy and Daddy” was helmed by Angela Seo with lyrical contributions from Elliot Reed and Jamie Stewart; inspirations for the track include Toilet Paper Magazine, works by Boyd McDonald, Korean mythological drawings and alcohol.
On Girl with Basket of Fruit, Xiu Xiu re-examine and distort their penchant for expressing political, personal and social frustrations while challenging genre-defining devices of experimental, electronic, and pop music.
