Yellow Days shares video for new single ‘Treat You Right’ (Columbia Records)

Last week Yellow Days shared his first new track in almost a year as a precursor to an upcoming album. ‘Treat You Right’ follows ‘Just When’ and ‘It’s Real Love’ which were released in early summer 2019. Now he shares the brilliant space themed video as directed by Acetone Films and shot with a greenscreen in George’s home during lockdown.

‘Treat You Right’ leans into the evolution of Yellow Days’ sound. Taking influence from touring the world and exposing himself to a wealth of classic soul legends – namely the softer R&B tones of Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Bobby Caldwell & The Isley Brothers. Instrumentally, he embraced more of a jazz influence from 70’s French band Cortex, 70s Funk group The Blackbyrds, Roy Ayers & Jazz Fusion legend Don Blackman.

Having previously released music produced out of his garden shed in surrey while still a teenager, Yellow Days (aka George van den Broek) has spent a lot of time writing and recording this next wave of music in LA with a whole host of incredible artists and musicians – many of whom have / still play for the likes of  Raphael Saadiq, Frank Ocean, Weldon Irvine, Kanye West.  ‘Treat You Right’ alone features John Carol Kirby on  keys (Solange / Frank Ocean), Daniel Aged on bass (Raphael Saadiq / Frank Ocean) and Lemar Carter on drums (Kanye West – Sunday Service ).

George has taken it back to the old school way of making music of this vein – from hand-picking the collaborators, selecting the perfect studio setting to recording everything on analogue, vintage gear; all of which has vastly enhanced the sound Yellow Days is now capable of creating.
