Debut Album ‘Between Places’ Out Next Week

Album to be released 4th March on Modular

Following on from recent appearances at ByLarm, symphonic pop band Young Dreams have revealed their new video for current single ‘First Days Of Something’.

Taken from their forthcoming debut album ‘Between Places’, you can watch ‘The First Days Of Something’ here:

Directed by frequent collaborator and creative ally Kristoffer Borgli, the video is a distinctively filmed, unusually tracked music video. ‘First Days Of Something’ plays as a backgrounded, sporadic soundtrack to the main event: the melancholy narrative of a man in a falling-apart long distance relationship: isolated, self-loathing, and fucking up as he feels his relationship disintegrate.

Kristoffer Borgli says, “This is the most personal video or film I’ve ever made, both in concept and story. I always try to connect certain periods of my life to specific songs, almost to the level of the actor in the video. And I thought it would be a good concept for a music video to have a character do that. The story is a cross between my own experience with a break-up last winter, and also the actors own experiences.”

The ‘First Days of Something’ is out digitally worldwide. The single package features remixes by Delorean, Henning Furst, and Zammuto.

The band’s debut album ‘Between Places’ will be released 4th March in the UK on Modular Recordings.

Young Dreams are a symphonic pop ensemble from Bergen, Norway, headed up by mighty Matias Tellez. With a lineup of musicians that starts at seven and blossoms to as many as twelve at any given performance, they’ve already captured the imaginations of dreamy pop lovers internationally via just a couple of limited but potent releases.

Tellez composes the lions share of the Young Dreams sound, after which a variety of instruments and voices are added by a clutch of likeminded optimists, including but not limited to Rune Vandaskog, Chris Holm, Pablo Tellez, Marius Erster Bergesen, Njaal Strom Paulsberg and Emilio Sanhueza. The collective’s debut, ‘Between Places’, is a wonderfully respectful interpretation of classical pop and symphonic forms made in an entirely modern way. It’s looking in the rearview but with the foot to the floor to the future.

Young Dreams will be at SXSW 2013.

“‘Fog of War’ is perhaps even more of an anthem than its predecessor, blowing up youthful, violently impassioned longings for freedom to the size of a flare-streaked sky… these Norwegians live up to all the bombast: they’ve got a sound as hopeful– and huge– as teenage dreams.” Pitchfork

“blue-sky dream pop that sounds like a blissful collaboration between the Beach Boys and Animal Collective” Nylon Magazine

“like being drenched in deliciousness and tickled by seraphim wearing gossamer gloves” The Guardian, New Band Of The Day

“…soaring, bleary-eyed, optimistic…” The Fader

“‘First Days Of Something’ sees the Bergen, Norway band finding some sunshine space between Fixers and Yeasayer, mixing perfect pop with Zimbabwean-style guitars” NME
