Hannah Georgas Releases EP All That Emotion Versions

Featuring Matt Berninger, Owen Pallett,

Bartees Strange & Kate Stables

Out Now On Brassland/Arts & Crafts

Shares New Version of “That Emotion” Sung By Kate Stables

Feat. Graham Walsh of Holy Fuck

Today, Hannah Georgas is sharing her All That Emotion Versions EP, a collaborative effort that re-examines a series of songs from her critically acclaimed Aaron Dessner-produced album, All That Emotion, that came out last year via Dessner’s label Brassland and Toronto indie stalwart Arts & Crafts to a wave of attention from outlets like The Guardian, Pitchfork, NPR, The New York Times, FADER, Stereogum, New York Magazine, Consequence of Sound and Paste among many others.

From a Bartees Strange house remix of “Dreams”, an intimate and whimsical version of “Easy” with strings by Owen Pallett, to the previously released duet of “Pray It Away” with The National’s Matt Berninger and today’s beautiful, throbbing drone version of “That Emotion” alongside Kate Stables (leader of acclaimed UK group This Is The Kit) and Graham Walsh of the band Holy Fuck, Versions lets us hear album favourites in a new light.

I first met Hannah in 2019 when we were both on tour singing with The National for their I am Easy To Find tour, and I’ll be forever grateful to them for introducing the two of us,” says Stables of the track. “We had some of the happiest tour times and high jinx ever. It makes me feel pretty emotional just thinking about it actually, very in keeping with the lyrics of this track in fact. “All that emotion” 100%.

Of the EP, Georgas said, “Having the opportunity to connect and collaborate with Bartees, Kate, Owen, Matt and Graham has been a treat. All have released their own albums this past year and I’ve honestly listened to their new music more than anything else. It’s been sweet to realize a new side to these songs and it’s always refreshing to hear my music in a completely different way. Collaboration is an integral part of making music for me, and it’s felt extra special to do this during the pandemic.

What the press is saying about Hannah Georgas

“The introspective Canadian singer-songwriter’s stately fourth album evokes an atmosphere of quiet loveliness.” Pitchfork

“A beautiful new album full of bright and shimmering guitar lines and sweet soothing harmonies.”  NPR

“All That Emotion boasts sweeping orchestration and cozy melodies..”The New York Times

“Magisterial pop for introverts” The Guardian

“‘That Emotion’ is a meditation that subtly hints at that feeling of emotions starting to pile up and surface…Georgas’ voice is certainly the highlight, a calming force even as she considers a more disoriented headspace” Stereogum

“Her vocals are at the forefront of these meditative ballads, floating above soft, meandering sonic landscapes of pulsating synths…” FLOOD Magazine

“Standouts such as Easy, Cruel and Just A Phase exemplify her extraordinary gift.”  The Sunday Times

“A bold voice, her unremitting honesty makes Hannah Georgas a challenging but utterly absorbing figure.” Clash

“It’s a record that may require this kind of attention to detail to fully appreciate, but even absent that, All That Emotion is an elegant exploration of soft atmospheres as well as human behavior.” All Music

“Georgas gives listeners the bittersweet beauty of recalling turning seasons and turning points on All That Emotion.” Exclaim

“With soft guitar tones and an even gentler singer voice [Georgas] turns “That Emotion” into her own fortune cookie slip of truth, doling out comforting advice like a new generation’s Feist.”  Consequence of Sound
